These cards are an update of the traditional version and include sentence cards and strips offered in full color, using the colors often associated with the parts of speech. Function of words activities are not grammar lessons; they are grammar experiences. Each part of speech has multiple sets of cards that serve as individual lessons. The activities isolate plural rules in nouns, examine the various categories of adjectives, clarify the appropriate use of articles, and display the function of parts of speech within the context of a sentence. (objects pictured here are not included)
This set of materials is aimed at first level students. The full continuum that leads children from concrete to abstract is as follows:
First level students - Function of Words
Second level students - Grammar Sentences
Third level students - Developing Writing Through Grammar
Fourth through sixth level students - Grammar Curriculum Level 9-12
The set consists of labels for each part of speech to be used in conjunction with easily obtained farm and zoo animals. Each card features the words in clear print format. You may use this activity in conjunction with the Farm.
