This Geography Classified Nomenclature module deals with the general concepts of Types of Mountain Crests.

The module includes:

Mountain Chain: Learn about series of connected mountains facing the same direction.
Massif: Explore isolated groups of mountains with a single base.
Orographic System: Study groups of several mountain chains.
Mountain Group: Discover clusters of peaks connected but isolated from other mountains.
Crest of a Chain: Understand the line joining the summits of a mountain chain.
Watershed: Learn about areas drained by rivers or streams.
Continental Divide: Study ridges dividing the drainage of entire continents.
Orographic Axis: Discover lines indicating the principal geographic direction of mountain chains.
Longitudinal Valleys: Explore deep depressions running parallel to mountain chains.
Mountain Pass: Understand low parts between peaks allowing passage.
Saddle: Learn about wide concave passes between valleys.
Primary Chain: Discover the trunk or base mountain chain among a set.
Secondary Chain: Study series of elevations branching off from the primary chain.
Spur: Explore smaller summits on the sides of mountains.
Escarpment: Understand steep slopes or cliffs.
Range: Learn about long, rounded summits in mountain chains.

Booklets and wall charts are not included in the homeschool version. The three-part card format includes control cards, which children can use to match labels and pictures. If desired, these control cards can be bound and used as booklets. We have opted to exclude booklets and wall charts to make the homeschool edition more cost-effective.
