This Geography Classified Nomenclature module deals with the general concepts of Types of Lakes.
The module includes:
- Lake: Understand large masses of water in ground depressions, which may be fresh or salty.
- Pool or Pond: Learn about smaller bodies of still or stagnant water.
- Swamp: Study low-lying land permanently saturated with moisture and overgrown with vegetation.
- Seepage Lake: Explore lakes formed by water oozing from the earth's mantle rock.
- Crater Lake: Discover lakes collected in the craters of extinct volcanoes.
- Oxbow Lake: Understand lakes formed from meandering rivers separated by deposited silt, often known as bayous.
Booklets and wall charts are not included in the homeschool version. The three-part card format includes control cards, which children can use to match labels and pictures. If desired, these control cards can be bound and used as booklets. We have opted to exclude booklets and wall charts to make the homeschool edition more cost-effective.
