Prairie Food Web Elements is a digital printable Montessori science resource created for lower elementary students ages 6–9. This interactive ecology set allows children to assemble prairie food chains and more complex food webs using realistic plant and animal picture cards, energy-flow arrows, and sun cards. As students arrange prairie grasses, pollinators, herbivores, predators, decomposers, and other organisms, they begin to see how life in a grassland ecosystem is connected through energy transfer, habitat relationships, producers and consumers, predator-prey interactions, and ecological balance. The included prairie food web poster may be used as a control chart, giving teachers and homeschool guides a visual model for lesson presentation, independent correction, student discussion, and follow-up research.
