Temperate Forest Food Web Elements is a digital printable Montessori science material designed for lower elementary students ages 6–9. This hands-on ecology resource gives children the pieces they need to model how energy moves through a temperate forest habitat, using realistic cards of forest plants, animals, fungi, insects, decomposers, and predators, along with arrow cards and sun images. As students arrange the cards into food chains and larger food webs, they begin to understand producers, consumers, decomposers, predator-prey relationships, energy transfer, and the interdependence of living things in a forest ecosystem. The included temperate forest food web poster may be used as a control chart, helping teachers and homeschool guides present the lesson, support independent work, encourage self-checking, and extend the activity into research, discussion, and environmental science studies.
