This Geography Classified Nomenclature module deals with the general concepts of Earth.

The module includes:

  • Troposphere: The lowest layer of the atmosphere where weather occurs.
  • Stratosphere: The second layer, ideal for airplane travel.
  • Mesosphere: The layer with the coldest temperatures.
  • Thermosphere: The largest atmospheric layer with extreme temperatures.
  • Exosphere: The outermost atmospheric layer with sparse molecules.
  • Continental Crust: The thick outer rocky shell made of different rock types.
  • Oceanic Crust: The thinner crust under oceans composed of basalt and gabbro.
  • Mantle: The thick layer beneath the crust responsible for tectonic activity.
  • Core: The innermost part of Earth, consisting of a solid inner core and a molten outer core.
  • Continents: Understanding the seven major landmasses on Earth.

Booklets and wall charts are not included in the homeschool version. The three-part card format includes control cards, which children can use to match labels and pictures. If desired, these control cards can be bound and used as booklets. We have opted to exclude booklets and wall charts to make the homeschool edition more cost-effective.
